Many customers of ours are requesting Metravib for numerical prototyping. The purpose of such service is to validate the compliance of the considered equipment to applicable standards with respect to mechanical design.
Numerical prototyping takes is a 2-step process. First of all Metravib simulation team carries out an adequate finite element modeling of the equipment. This initial step is crucial as it consists in representing the physics of the equipment as accurately as possible on the simulation software.
The second step consists in performing the global analysis of the equipment structural behavior.
Such analysis is composed of 2 parts:
- Simulations of static load cases
- Simulations of dynamic load cases
At the end of the performed work, the mechanical stress distribution in the equipment and the associated safety margins are calculated. Welds and screw elements analysis can be carried out in addition. The obtained final results allow the design of the equipment to be validated before production.
